The Ukrainian (Enhanced) layout
This is the standard Ukrainian layout (Windows "Ukrainian (Enhanced)"). It shares most keys with the Russian layout, but і replaces ы, є replaces э, ї replaces ъ, ґ has its own key (\), and the apostrophe sits on the ` key.
In phonetic mode, h types г and g types ґ, which matches how Ukrainian is romanised. Pairs like sh, ch, zh, ya, ye and yi turn into ш, ч, ж, я, є and ї.

How do I type Ukrainian without a Ukrainian keyboard?

How do I add the Ukrainian keyboard on Windows, Mac or iPhone?
Windows 11: Settings → Time & language → Language & region → Add a language, choose Ukrainian, then the "Ukrainian (Enhanced)" keyboard, which has ґ on its own key. Switch keyboards with Windows key + Space. Mac: System Settings → Keyboard → Text Input → Edit → + and pick Ukrainian. Switch with Control + Space or the Globe key. iPhone: Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard → Ukrainian. Switch with the globe key. Android (Gboard): Gboard settings → Languages → Add keyboard → Ukrainian (Українська).
How do I type the Ukrainian apostrophe?
On this keyboard it is on the ` key, left of 1, and on the bottom row of the phone layout. In phonetic mode, press ' twice. Ukrainian uses the apostrophe after a consonant before я, ю, є or ї — м'ясо, п'ять, сім'я.
How do I type ґ?
Here, ґ is on the \ key (above Enter), with Ґ on Shift + \. On Windows "Ukrainian (Enhanced)" it is the same key; on the basic Windows "Ukrainian" layout it is Right Alt + г. On a phone, long-press г.
