<!-- about this layout -->
The 2-set (Dubeolsik) layout
This is 2-set (Dubeolsik), the standard Korean layout on Windows, Mac and phones. Consonants are on the left half of the keyboard and vowels on the right, so typing alternates between your hands.
You type letters in reading order — first consonant, vowel, then any final consonant — and the keyboard builds the block. If the next letter is a vowel, the final consonant moves across to start the next block (각 + ㅏ → 가가), exactly as on a real Korean keyboard. Backspace removes one letter at a time while you are typing a block.

Common questions
How do I type Korean without a Korean keyboard?
Use this page. Tap the on-screen keys, or type on your normal keyboard: each key types the Korean letter in the same position on a Korean keyboard, so you do not need to install anything. Then press Copy and paste the text anywhere.
How do I add the Korean keyboard on Windows, Mac or iPhone?
Windows 11: Settings → Time & language → Language & region → Add a language, choose Korean (Windows uses the Microsoft IME, which is 2-set by default; press the 한/영 key or Right Alt to switch between Hangul and English). Switch keyboards with Windows key + Space. Mac: System Settings → Keyboard → Text Input → Edit → + and pick 2-Set Korean (under Korean). Switch with Control + Space or the Globe key. iPhone: Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard → Korean, then Standard (the 2-set layout). Switch with the globe key. Android (Gboard): Gboard settings → Languages → Add keyboard → Korean (한국어), then the 2-set / QWERTY layout.
Why do Korean letters join into blocks?
Korean is written in syllable blocks: each block is a consonant, a vowel and sometimes a final consonant, stacked into one square. You type the letters one by one and the keyboard builds the block — ㅎ ㅏ ㄴ gives 한, and ㄱ ㅡ ㄹ gives 글.
How do I type double consonants like ㄲ or ㅆ?
Hold Shift and press the single consonant: Shift + R types ㄲ, Shift + T types ㅆ, Shift + E types ㄸ, Shift + Q types ㅃ and Shift + W types ㅉ. Shift + O and Shift + P give the vowels ㅒ and ㅖ.
