Voice Typing Extension Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

OmniTalk – Voice Typing & Dictation ("the extension") is a browser extension for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge that lets you type with your voice in text boxes on websites. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use it. It covers the browser extension only; the OmniTalk mobile app has its own Privacy Policy.

The extension has no servers and no accounts. It does not collect, store, sell, or share your voice, the text you dictate, or any personal information.

2. Microphone and Speech

• When the microphone is on: only while dictation is switched on. It stops as soon as you turn dictation off, close the tab, or say "stop listening".
• Who turns speech into text: your browser's built-in speech recognition (the Web Speech API). In Google Chrome this service is provided by Google; in Microsoft Edge, by Microsoft. That processing is covered by your browser maker's privacy policy.
• What the extension receives: only the finished text from the browser, which it types into the text box you selected. The extension never receives, records, or stores your audio.

3. Text You Dictate

The text goes directly into the text box on the page you are using. The extension does not keep a copy and does not send it anywhere.

4. Settings

Your preferences (dictation language, capitalisation, sounds, and the mic button's visibility and position) are saved locally in your browser. They never leave your device and are removed when you uninstall the extension.

5. Website Access and Permissions

• Access to websites: the extension runs on the pages you visit so it can show its mic button and type into the text box you choose. It does not read, collect, or transmit the content of those pages.
• Microphone: your browser asks for permission the first time you dictate on a website. You can revoke it at any time in your browser's site settings.
• Right-click menu, keyboard shortcut, and storage: used only to start and stop dictation and to remember your settings.

6. Analytics and Tracking

The extension contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code. The link to omnitalkapp.com in the extension's menu is an ordinary web link; it opens our website only when you click it.

7. Third-Party Services

Speech recognition is performed by your browser, under its maker's privacy policy:

8. Children's Privacy

The extension does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

If this policy changes, we will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
